The Microsoft Application Virtualization team located in Cambridge, MA is looking for a Software Development Engineer in Test to test Microsoft’s application virtualization product across a wide variety of application and hardware configurations. Microsoft Application Virtualization (“App-V”) is the pioneering application virtualization software for enterprise application management and this challenging position, is in a small, fast paced, team environment focused on maintaining and improving the App-V product by delivering service pack releases, hot fixes, security updates, other out-of-band improvements, and tools to customers.

The role involves planning testing for our servicing releases, coordinating test execution with our offshore team and building new automation/tools for the team. The scope of the position spans across functional, performance and stress testing. Qualified candidates need to be able to quickly build a strong technical expertise of the product and a deep understanding of the customer needs to positively influence triage decisions. The ability to collaborate effectively with other disciplines, product support, partner teams and streamline process is also critically important.

Basic requirements to be successful in this role include:

• Strong recent programming in C++ and C# or Java
• Strong history and passion for successful technical problem solving
• Solid working knowledge and experience of Windows internals, debugging and software engineering principals
• Proven ability to work well with other disciplines and partner teams
• Effective communication skills
• Proven track record of experience developing software on Windows platforms
• 3+ years software testing experience with multiple complete product cycles
• BS or Masters in Computer Science or comparable experience in the software industry.

Additional experience we like to observe:
Experience working with IT/Enterprise class solutions like System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Active Directory, and SQL is strongly desired.
